Problem Statement:

  • The work order communication system required a user to manually transmit information over the internet, which required human intervention on both ends and had a long lag time.

Project Accomplishments:

  • A software was developed that automated the transmission of information, enhanced security and reduced turn around time.
  • A multimedia case on data synchronization was developed for use in classrooms and approved by L&T.

Problem Statement:

  • There were three main problems faced at the inspection stage of induction pressure welding process at a company.
  • Inspection time of the welds.
  • Inaccessibility of welds.
  • Pasty welds or kissing bonds.

Results and Accomplishments:

  • Various Non-Destructive techniques were analyzed in the field of In-situ weld inspection and the best alternatives were identified.
  • A multimedia Case on induction welding was developed for use in classrooms.

Acoustic Emission Testing Case Study

Problem Statement:

  • Monitor the acoustic emission  in large above ground storage tanks (LASTs) using wireless technologies so as to detect structural damage and leaks

Results and Accomplishments:

  • They compared the use of wireless versus wired technologies for acoustic emission testing.  Using these technologies, the oil tank has to be shut down completely for only 24 hours thereby reducing the time needed for inspection.
  • A multimedia Case on acoustic emission testing was developed for use in classrooms.

Thermal Comfort Case Study

Problem Statement:

The objective of this project was to make apartments more comfortable for their occupants.

Larsen & Toubro conducted thermal comfort analysis of residential buildings to evaluate the performance of the construction materials  with respect to thermal comfort

understanding the process of thermal comfort analysis
